The Texas Rangers sign Neal Cotts
The Rangers have signed 31-year old lefty reliever Neal Cotts to a minor league deal. Cotts has not pitched in a game since the 2009 season due to Tommy John Surgery. Cotts pitched for the Cubs in 2009. He has now pitched in 284 games (5 starts) in his first 7 years in the majors and he is 10-12 with 1 save, a 4.63 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. Cotts will have a good shot of winning a job in the Rangers’ bullpen if he proves his elbow is sound in spring training.
