The Texas Rangers have acquired outfielder Josh Hamilton from the Reds in return for 24-year old starting pitcher Edinson Volquez and 23 year old lefty reliever Daniel Herrera. The 26-year old lefty swinging Hamilton has had many issues with drugs and injuries in the past but the Rangers are willing to roll the dice with him. He was outstanding when he got a chance to play last season for the Reds. He played in 90 games for the Reds last season and he was 87 for 298 (.292 avg, .922 OPS) with 52 runs scored, 19 homers and 47 RBIs. The Rangers think they have a steal in Hamilton and they could be right as long as he behaves and stays healthy.
